Thai massage is designed to be beneficial for both the giver and the receiver. Thai Bodywork works with the whole body, incorporating principles of martial arts, yoga and excellent body mechanics.

Traditional Thai Massage, evolving from the ancient healing traditions of Ayurveda, yoga and Thai Buddhism, employs hands, feet, arms and legs to guide the recipient through a series of yoga postures with fluid movements, gentle pressure and stretching.

Coaching the Body is a state of the art approach to therapeutic bodywork that utilizes techniques from traditional Thai massage as a means of efficiently treating trigger points in muscles and restoring normal motion, eliminating pain at its source.

About Trigger Points and Referred Pain

Its probably not an injury, but it hurts like one!

Trigger points are microscopic areas of stagnation in muscle fibers. They are very common, cause a mysterious and extensive array of pain and other symptoms, and are a mystery to most practitioners. Even though myofascial trigger points have been researched and documented by physicians since the 1940s, they still have not achieved wide acceptance or understanding in the health community. Unfortunately, they are also responsible for the vast majority of pain complaints that people experience.

Coaching the Body practitioners are fully trained to address specific pain issues and are highly competent trigger point therapists.   We design treatment protocols based on the needs of the client, and avoid putting joints through extreme range until the relevant muscles on both sides of the joint have been treated.

Our treatment protocols are designed to visit all the muscles that are relevant to a particular regional pain complaint, based upon years of research into direct and satellite referral patterns, functional relationships, perpetuating factors, nervous and vascular impingement and processing of the kinetic chain.

The CTB session is viewed as a refined form of trigger point therapy with a strong movement component. We are highly educated trigger point therapists who use Thai massage techniques. We use compression to treat trigger points and taut fibers, and employ various means of providing feedback to muscles as they change length. This allows us to teach muscles how to lengthen and shorten without the disabling pain response caused by trigger points and dysfunctional muscle spindles.

The focus of CTB is the restoration of normal, pain-free movement. The techniques combine compression of tender points, traversal of key lines and joint movement to find and eliminate taut fibers and tenderness and to unlock the compensatory splinting patterns that are the body’s attempt to stabilize painful and unstable areas.
